Is McLaren Lying about 720S ?

Yes, they are and NO the Mclaren 720s is not Under-performing but rather Over Performing, whenever the horse power of a car is reported by a manufacturer it's the base or the raw power developed at the engine and not the one transferred to the wheels as some power is lost in the transmission.

McLaren 720s was thought to produce 700 horsepower at the engine but it actually delivers 700 HP to the wheels! which means it has close to around 770-800 HP. And not only the results can be seen on a Dyno but also on the track!.The quarter mile times coming in from the sources say that its faster than a 918!! or an Aventador SV in a straight line , it has a quarter mile time of the sub 10 secs!! and that is insanely fast.

Why is McLaren lying to their customers about the 720s ?

Well lying isn't that bad I guess especially if your car Over Performs , you get more for whatever price you pay which is certainly not bad , A decently specked Mclaren 720s costs about 330,000$ which is great for the performance, luxury, drive quality and more importantly for my petrol heads - "the numbers" on the track . Porsche does that too!

BUT WHY?  the question still remains and the answer is TO PROTECT THE McLaren p1 OWNERS ! the car when it came out was a hype and it did perform, not as expected though! but the McLaren p1 is a limited edition hyper car with a price tag of 1.4 million $ today! and it is certainly out performed by a 300,000$ car ? It will depreciate like a BMW !! No way McLaren wants its "Exclusive Hypercar Owners" to suffer losses, even though some invest in hypercars to drive and for the pleasure , but some for the value.

"You can't make an everyday sports car outperforming a hyper car !!"

 YES WE CAN !
                       -McLaren.

And they did , whatever be the case technology for cars is changing and we will keep moving forward breaking barriers of speed, performance, comfort and luxury !.
